Communities creating homes; the Pembrokeshire Story

Jo Rees-Wigmore, Pembrokeshire Community Land Trust Officer recently presented as part of a Wales Co-operative Centre and Development Trusts Association Wales (DTA Wales) event focusing on community land trusts and community led housing.

Speaking about the event Jo said: “It was great to be part of this event working with DTA Wales and to be able to share the story of the fantastic work going on in Pembrokeshire to create community led, affordable housing for current and future generations.”

DTA Wales are now supporting communities to Explore community led housing as one aspect of their new Communities Creating Homes Programme.

The first event as part of the programme focussed on community land trusts and introduced other forms of community led housing with other speakers from Wessex CLT, the National CLT Network and Bristol City Council taking part.

The Development Trusts Association Wales (DTA Wales) is an independent practitioner based membership organisation promoting the work of and supporting the growing network of development trusts in Wales. They are part of a larger movement of community based regeneration and enterprise network across the UK.

Arwain Sir Benfro – the Local Action Group (LAG) for Pembrokeshire, administered by PLANED has provided funding of £60,410 to develop the Pembrokeshire Community Land Trust project. This is funded through the LEADER programme, which is part of the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020, Funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
