Independent Hotelier Award

PLANED board member crowned Independent Hotelier 2019

Paula Ellis, Group General Manager for the Retreats Group, which owns and runs Twr-y-Felin Hotel, Roch Castle, and Penrhiw Priory here in Pembrokeshire, has been crowned Independent Hotelier 2019!

Announced at the Independent Hotel Show last night, Paula overcame competition from five other industry leaders, due to her commitment to the development of her team, the success of her establishment and the industry at large.

As Group General Manager of Wales’s leading luxury boutique hotels, Twr y Felin, Penrhiw Priory and Roch Castle, Paula has successfully placed Wales on an international platform as a new luxury destination. Retreats Group is now widely recognised as one of the UK’s exemplary hospitality employers.

Speaking about the award Iwan Thomas, PLANED CEO said: “As a member of our Board of Trustee, Paula continues to be an amazing supporter of our work across communities here in Pembrokeshire, and this award is a fantastic recognition of all the hard work Paula both delivers and inspires in all whom she works with. We at PLANED certainly wish her all the best, and are thrilled at the award.”

The Independent Hotelier Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the independent hotel sector. An independently spirited pioneer, recognised for excellence, with a reputation for pushing boundaries and creating exceptional guest experiences. Above all, the winner is someone committed to the development of their team, the success of their establishment and the industry at large.

Founded in 2012, Independent Hotel Show is the only industry event dedicated entirely to the need of luxury and boutique hoteliers.
