Building community wealth focus for Community Forum Network

Building community wealth was the topic for the most recent meeting of PLANED’s Community Forum Network

Community forum representatives and interested individuals from across the county recently met to hear from speakers about their experiences developing community wealth in many different forms.

Local speakers came from the VC Gallery, who have recently established a base in Pembroke Dock and Luke Conlon discussing his NOS DA (No One Should Die Alone) project.  PLANED’s own Community Shares Support Service was outlined and the newly formed rural crime team of Dyfed Powys Police. The keynote speakers were from Cwmni Bro Ffestiniog in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Benjamin, Network Officer said: “It was really inspiring to hear from all of the speakers and to hear about activity in north Wales with Cwmni Bro Ffestiniog. They are a network of successful community enterprises which have come together to co-operate under the banner of one overarching community company.

“There are more social enterprises per head of the population in Bro Ffestiniog than anywhere else in Wales. Fifteen of the area’s social enterprises have come together under the banner of Cwmni Bro Ffestiniog. There is a lot to learn from their experience that we could potential apply here in Pembrokeshire. “

PLANED’s Community Forum Network meets regularly to discuss issues of interest and relevance to town and community councils, community forums and associations and others interested in community leadership.
