Finland trip November 2011
The second Innovative Villages planning meeting took place at Knuutila manor, Finland. Delegates from Finland, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Spain, Estonia, Wales, discussed the Innovative Village’s transnational project. The project is going to be based on sharing knowledge and ideas as well as testing pilots around rural community services. Each partner has a different idea of what we mean as a ‘service’? The Oxford English dictionary: A system supplying a public need or the action of helping or doing work for someone.
We stayed at Knuutila Manor House, http://www.knuutila.fi/ located by the Kulovesi Lake and the Nokianvirta Stream in the village of Siuro, west of Nokia town. The area around the Manor House has the longest history of human habitation in the Pirkanmaa Province, its history dating back to the 14th century.
