A GUIDE TO THE MILITARY HERITAGE OF PEMBROKESHIRE

PLANED has recently launched the second volume of ‘A Guide to the Military Heritage of Pembrokeshire’.

Chaired by Roger Thomas of English Heritage, a network of local historians and members of the community is compiling a guide which now includes fact sheets for twenty communities across the county, with more to follow. Pembrokeshire’s strategic position on Britain’s western seaboard, coupled with the magnificent sheltered harbour of Milford Haven, has afforded a military and maritime significance which has long been recognised. Much of this history is described only in books and is frequently not easily recognised on the ground.

PLANED through its European Union LEADER+ programme has established the project to raise awareness of Pembrokeshire’s military and maritime heritage, from Civil Wars to the Cold War.
