HISTORICAL RESEARCH

Community Heritage Training Programme

Is there a group within your community which is interested in learning how to research your local history?

The training programme will enable anyone with an interest in local heritage to have the opportunity to learn about, have access to and enjoy their heritage.
A community heritage trainer will guide your local history group in how to research and interpret your local heritage.

Six community-based training sessions will be offered and trips to the County Record Office, County Reference Library, County Museum & Cambria Archaeology. At the end of the programme, the group will have the opportunity to hold a public exhibition in their community to celebrate their achievements.

Within the programme each community will also look at compiling:
Community Heritage Sites Audit - which will list the heritage resources of the community. These will include buildings, sites, traditions, stories, characters.
A local heritage exhibition will showcase the research and be a means to inform and enthuse the wider local community of its local history. Your community will be inspired to develop other activities based on their research e.g. heritage trails, festivals, heritage tourism and develop links with other groups with similar themes.
