Supporting
Communities
Every community has active groups of people and
individuals who can come together through a Community Forum - local councillors,
representatives of local organisations e.g. Churches and Chapels, Round Table,
Merched y Wawr, Young Farmers Clubs. PLANED officers will help you to develop
or review your Local Action Plan.
Our aim is to help as many communities as possible to identify opportunities and implement lasting projects and we have some funds to help you.
LEADER+ - Creating a Culture of Entrepreneurship
PLANED's LEADER+ programme aims to strengthen the local economy by helping
communities to identify new enterprise opportunities based on local resources
- the people themselves, their natural and cultural heritage and social and
economic needs. To this end PLANED is establishing fifteen Area Community
Enterprise Groups across the County, helping local people to work through
a process that will result in the development of an Entrepreneurship Action
Plan. The aim of which is to identify new products and services which build
upon the strengths of each area and which are sustainable for the future.
PLANED will support local people with the implementation of the projects
included in the plan - providing staff time, expertise, resources and funding
- to turn ideas into action.
Agriculture
Through its role as a facilitator for Farming Connect, PLANED is acting
as the link between Farming Connect and the Farming Community locally, assisting
farmers with access to Farming Connect services and everyday inquiries. Building
on SPARC's highly valued Whole Farm Support Scheme, PLANED will continue
to support farming families in Pembrokeshire in identifying new farm based
and off-farm opportunities, particularly linked to sustainable agriculture.
Tourism
PLANED aims to help develop sustainable TOURISM opportunities, with the
emphasis on year-round, niche tourism bringing together three key aspects
- people, their environment and heritage, and the development of the economy.
Valuing the Environment
This initiative provides everyone with the opportunity to become more
involved with protecting and enhancing Pembrokeshire's priceless environment
for future generations.
Working In Partnership
To ensure true partnership working PLANED's Board of Management has representatives
from all parts of Pembrokeshire and a wide range of interests. Member organisations
include community organisations, Town and Community Councils, Special Interest
Groups (representing tourism, business and farming), Pembrokeshire County Council,
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority, Welsh Development Agency, Countryside
Council for Wales, Education and Learning Wales, Pembrokeshire Association
of Voluntary Services, Pembrokeshire College and arts and environmental organisations.
This highly inclusive approach is to ensure true partnership working.
