RURAL COMMUNITY ACTION
What is Rural Community Action?
Rural Community Action (RCA) has been introduced by the Welsh Assembly Government to “empower communities and enable them to take responsibility for the regeneration of their area”. RCA is managed by the Welsh Development Agency on behalf of the Assembly, working with local partnerships. In Pembrokeshire, PLANED is the managing partnership on behalf of the Pembrokeshire Partnership Management Board.
Who is involved?
Rural Community Action is providing the opportunity for organisations involved in rural community regeneration to work together to provide complementary support to local people in their communities. RCA in Pembrokeshire is focussing on the following activities:
Youth Support and Participation
Prince's Trust Cymru has considerable experience and expertise of working with young people. Under RCA it will support and encourage young people living in rural communities to develop the skills and confidence to participate in community action.
Encouraging Community Sense of Place
With RCA funding PLANED will be able to increase its support to communities to research their local area, its history, heritage and culture and to develop projects to celebrate local distinctiveness.
Community Business Support
Encouraging the creation of community and social economy businesses through specialist support, linked to the Pembrokeshire Enterprise Network and building on the Welsh Assembly Government review of the social economy, will be facilitated by PLANED .
Technical Support
Through the RCA programme,Pembrokeshire County Council will offer technical support to community groups and assist them in the development and design of projects.
