Regional Investment in Wales after Brexit

Pembrokeshire stakeholders gather to discuss investment priorities for Wales’ future outside of the EU.

PLANED, in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council recently hosted a stakeholder engagement event to consider regional investment priorities for Wales after Brexit and to start the conversation about what Pembrokeshire would want in the future and how this might be achieved.

The publication of the Welsh Government policy paper ‘Regional investment in Wales after Brexit’ is the first step in the process of designing a new approach to regional economic development and investment in Wales. It forms one in a series of Securing Wales’ Future policy papers which set out Welsh Government’s vision for Wales once we have left the EU.

Rob Halford Head of Planning and Strategy at the Wales European Funding Office (WEFO) said “Leaving the EU will present many challenges but also some opportunities.  It’s great to see local people and organisations coming to such stakeholder events to find out more and I am encouraging as many responses as possible to the current engagement exercise to help us shape a new ‘made-in-Wales’ approach to future regional investment.  It’s vital that we bring together different perspectives, policies and investments to ensure Wales achieves the best possible return on future investments.”
